Coolkenno History

Here is a beautiful rendition of 'Stille Nacht', or the German version of 'Silent Night' by local man, Nicholas Bielenberg. I had the privilege of listening to this amazing recording in the company of Nicholas and his family some time ago. The song is in recognition of the First World War Christmas Truce, which saw German and British troops down their arms to embrace and celebrate Christmas together and to sing a very poignant Christmas carol, Silent Night. That 1914 truce showed the futility of war and the respect the soldiers had for one another. Nicholas' great vocals are accompanied with a huge kind heart as all proceeds are to be donated to the United Nations Peacekeeping Veterans; an organisation highly respected by my own family. Details for purchasing online are on the attached link. You can purchase it on iTunes for €1 or the cd version for €10 if you contact his daughter, Belinda Bielenberg.
